Hello Out There!

One of my favorite DIVAS is heading to Florida!  Dolphin Stadium is pleased to announce that one of the most iconic pop artists in history, the one and only Madonna will be making her only South Florida stop with her Sticky & Sweet Tour on  Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at Dolphin Stadium.  The multi Grammy award winner and recent inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of  Fame, Madonna has long been known for groundbreaking multi dimensional tours that consist of visual and audio extravaganzas with nonstop singing and breathtaking dancing. Madonna’s last outing, 2006’s acclaimed Confessions Tour played in 25 countries including Russia, reached a collective audience of  over 1.3 million fans, and was the highest grossing concert tour of all time by a female artist. 

Tickets for the Miami Concert went go on sale Saturday, May 31 , 10 AM. Tickets range from $55.00, $95.00, $165.00 and $350.00 offering a variety of excellent seats at all price levels. He may not be Madonna but he might think he is sometimes, LOL! Leslie Jordan will be at the footlight Theater at the P-House in Orlando on July 8th.  His show “My Trip Down The Pink Carpet” will sell out fast, so get your tickets early!  His most famous role is Brother Boy from Sordid Lives that won him a Emmy.  But he has been in so much in all the years and is still going strong.  I love this guy!  Hamburger Mary’s in Orlando is really making the buzz.  Miss Sammy is featured there on Tuesday nights and I hear it is the best DAMN burger in town as quoted by food critic Darcel!  

Just a note at 8:00PM on Saturday, July 12th at the footlight Theater, Michael Wanzie are presenting a screening of the award winning documentary Paul Wegman: A Tribute.  This will be a fund-raiser to raise funds for the Orlando youth Alliance and The Center of Orlando.  This is a very special event, try to make it to this event.  And of course, Paul Wegman was the gay icon Miss P.  Also, did you all see our famous Orlando gal Tasha Long on America’s Got Talent?  She looked incredible, but unfortunately she did not move on to the finals.  And she did fooled the judges until she spoke.  It was so great!

Hello to all,

Last week my article was a tribute to the wonderful Miss P who is long gone.  I hope you enjoyed it.  I got quite a few e-mails that said it was good to see the gal back in print.  Well, when I came to Florida, there were many that helped me personally, Dana Manchester, Billie Boots, and many more.  But one of my all time favorites is coming to Revolution in Orlando.   Miss Tiffany Arieagus will take the stage with Danielle Hunter and cast during the Fourth Of July Weekend.  Believe me guys, this will be one HOT performance you will not want to miss!  So I would highly suggest reservations for the Majestic Theater at Revolution.  And DJ MIK & DJ Joanie will keep the dance floor hopping.  And be sure and catch the newest cast member Shantell D Marco, a new gal in town.  She is absolutely beautiful and looks like she is 16, LOL!

Tiffany The Queen Is Back! 

 We would like to wish Blade Matthews good luck and she is heading into a new venture out of state.  She was a regular at Pulse and the Parliament House in Orlando.  She was also involved with Baby Blue’s Varitease performances.  I was just telling someone the other day how there are really no big newcomers that are growing in talent and longevity. Blade was one of those performers who was upcoming I feel.  And we have lost Deranged last week to the Mid West!  We were discussing who will take the place of Stephanie, Natasha, Darcel, Page, Leigh, Amy, Danielle, Nikki, and Joey when we all get older? And YES gals, we are the older ones already. I see a few that could take the place, Sassy Devine, Tia Milan, The Lady Minx, Faith,  Crystal Chambers, Co Co Montrease comes to mind immediately.  And I know there are some I am probably leaving out. The respected art of female impersonation has been slowly fading from the 90s.  And the day of boy queens are just about over in Florida.  I hope the art gets a pick up soon with performers but show venues as well.  This art is worth saving for sure.  By the way, congrats to CoCo for winning the Miss Gay Days Pageant 2008!

Be sure and catch Baby Blue’s Varietease Carnival for a repeat on three Wednesdays at the Parliament House on June 25th, July 2nd, and July 16th.  It will also be featured on Saturday, July 5th.  This is one of her best!  You can get tickets at WANZIE.Com s well.   And if you go to her show on Wednesday, be sure and catch Page King & I at Leigh Shannon’s Studio 55 in the disco.  We now feature special guests weekly!  This is a super fun night with just about everything!

Hello Guys & Gals,

Working back at the Parliament House in Orlando on Wednesdays has been great.  This is the place where I moved from Louisville to become a star many years ago.  I am still working on the star part, LOL!   As I sit in a make up station in the dressing room, so many memories come to my mind as I put oon the final touch of mascara.  I happen to be getting ready in a station that was the spot where a gifted actor, actress, emcee, director used to get his or her presentation together.  I can almost see this person every night I am there in some corner of this legendary resort, but mostly in the dressing room.  The walls have changed to a dark wood and it has been scaled up but you cannot repaint over the theatrical mark this person made on Drag, Plays, Comedy and personally to my life.  

I used to tell this person when we would take rides over to Melbourne to work my show, Girl, I love you when you perform in the first show, but I would NEVER sit in the front row on your second show.  We had many laughs over that.  When this person left the P- House to retire, I did not know they were not doing well health wise and he would run by the store once in a while and still make me laugh.  So I really never knew that my good friend would not be with us long.  Ironically, when I went to work at the P - House years ago, this person was so mean to me, I thought!  But now as I look back and he was just grooming me to get tough, be a better performer, and teach me to host a show and find my own way of doing it.

This wonderful person that many may have not gotten to know, that many miss terribly, and was known world wide was the powerful icon Paul Wegman and his side kick Miss P!  Paul, I personally miss you and I hope I will have touched  people a third of what you did in your shorten life.  We all wish we had seen you more of what I know was even greater things to come from you my friend.  Please rest in peace and I just wanted to have people remember this wonderful character know sometimes just as “P”!
