A Huge Loss for the Tampa Community
Sadly we report that Friday, May 2 Bobby Smith passed. A true leader for her entire life! She is survived by her life partner of over 50 years, Kay Thompson. Long time activists and founders in the GLBT Community. Both were active in the formation of MCC Church and fought against un equality. Organizers of GLBT secret parties in Tampa in the 50’s. As activist they were in the March On Washington. Interviewed dozen of times for local &national media. On one the last times was an interview with the Tampa Tribune. The story is about Carl E. de Long, Jr. who was murdered in 1956 leaving a Tampa Gay Bar. The links & story feature an interview with Bobby may be found at http://reports.tbo.com/coldcase/
Bobbiy will truly be missed by many in our community. Our hearts & prayers go out to Kay.
The funeral for Bobby Smith will be at the Tampa MCC Church this Thursday starting at 6pm.

The WE network wants Dorothy and I to be on their “Secret Lives of Women” show (you might have heard me mention that Sunday night, when McCavity asked me up on stage. We’ll probably get them to follow us to Ybor city Saturday, at least to the Castle, and they did ask if there were friends to talk to that also enjoy dressing up in costumes. We thought of you right away, and wondered if you’d be in the store Saturday evening, and if we’d have permission to come in to the store and say hi, and possibly interview you. We believe this will be a very positive presentation, or we wouldn’t give them the time of day, and of course they are going to make a donation to kids charities, via my web site.

I was watching “Dream Car Garage” this morning and there was Woody sitting in the back seat of a bespoke Rolls Royce Phantom!! Before they were able to identify him I was saying to myself “hey, I know him - that’s Woody!” What a pleasant surprise to see him and listen to him describe the car. Luckily the show is being rebroadcast 2 more times on the SPEED channel in the next 24 hours or so. It will air overnight tonight at 3:30 AM and then again Monday afternoon at 3 PM.
